Closed beta · November 17 · macOS

A browser for people leaving Arc.

A vertical sidebar, spaces that keep their own logins, and your pinned tabs and folders carried over from Arc. Built on Chromium.

macOS on Apple Silicon only, for now.

The Halo window in the Work space: a sidebar with favorites, the Research and Design folders with their tabs, a space switcher and colour dots at the bottom, and a web page in a card on the right.

Spaces

Work, personal, a side project. Each in its own room.

Every space has its own colour and its own logins, so your work account never leaks into your weekend tabs. Prefer to share? Point a space at another one and it uses the same sign-ins.

Halo's space menu: Work, Personal and Side project, colour and gradient pickers, a pattern choice, a Sign-ins setting, rename, new space and Import from Arc.

Colour and gradient

Pick any colour, or blend two. The window picks up the space you are in.

Separate or shared logins

Separate by default. Share a space's sign-ins with another when you want one account in both. Sharing asks first, because it signs that space out.

Pin a site to a space

Tell Halo that a site belongs to a space. Open it from anywhere and it moves to the right room, with the right login.

Leaving Arc

Bring your sidebar with you.

Halo reads Arc's sidebar file on your Mac and rebuilds it. No account, no export step.

Comes across

  • Spaces, with their names, colours and emoji.
  • Pinned tabs and folders, in the order you left them.
  • Favorites from the top of the sidebar.
  • A JSON backup you can export and import any time.

Does not come across

  • Boosts and Easels. Halo does not have them.
  • Logins and cookies. Sign in again in each space.
  • Anything the import could not read. It tells you what it skipped.
